Dortmund 2006

Dortmunder Sparkassen Chess Meeting was held on July 29th-August 4th. Vladimir Kramnik and Peter Svidler have tied for the first place with 4.5 points. As GM Alex Finkel predicted, in such a short event most of the players have opted for the safe strategy. Baadur Jobava, who qualified for this event as Aeroflot winner, was the only one to play aggessive chess that brough him 1.5/7 and last place. Hats off for the great spirit.

Final standings:
1-2. Vladimir Kramnik (RUS 2743) and Peter Svidler (RUS 2742) 4.5/7
3-5. Peter Leko (HUN 2738), Boris Gelfand (ISR 2729) and Michael Adams (ENG 2732) 4.0
6. Arkadij Naiditsch (GER 2664) 3.5
7. Levon Aronian (ARM 2761) 2.0
8. Baadur Jobava (GEO 2651) 1.5
