It wasn't easy to pick the game of the day. We saw Bluvshtein's cold-blooded refutation of Mar del Plata attack in KID, Ivanchuk's crazy looking novelty 4. Bd2!? in Gruenfeld defence and Tiviakov's crushing attack against Short. We vote for the last.

Ivanchuk beat Harikrishna and finished clear first with full point ahead of Tiviakov who drew Pascal Charbonneau. Kamsky lost his first game to Eljanov, the two finished tied on 4-5th. Short saced queen for dancing knights but the point went to Bluvhstein. Wonderful tournament with many decided games.

GM Nikola Sedlak from Serbia is heading the field at the 3rd EU chess championship with 5.5 points after 6 games. The Championship is currently ongoing in Aosta Valley. Players from Serbia, Croatia, Montenegro and Turkey are allowed to play as guests and cannot obtain the title of EU champion.

35th Sparkassen Chess Meeting will take place on 23 June-1 July in Dortmund. Participants are Viswanathan Anand, Vladimir Kramnik, Shakhriyar Mamedyarov, Magnus Carlsen, Boris Gelfand, Magnus Carlsen, Arkadij Naiditsch and Aeroflot winner Evgeny Alexeev. Daily ticket for entering the playing hall is 6 Euros.

Die Sparkassen "A" Open and "B" Amateur tournaments will be starting on 22 June. Entry fee for "A" Open is 70 Euros, prize fund a bit more than 4500.

Felix Cup 2007 took place on May 25-31 in Baile Felix, Romania. The tournament is part of the great Romanian Chess Grand Prix 2007. Prize fund 3.500 Euros in cash and 3.000 Euros in objects. Organizers have provided individual conditions for GMs and IMs.

MonRoi and Mig, and Borat

I can't understand why serious company, as MonRoi pretends to be, didn't put a "sorry about the delay" statement, disclaimer, or whatever on the page where the games are being transmitted. Why they don't work closer with the organizers in order to provide adequate technical conditions for the broadcast. It looks like they sent the gadgets somewhere to Oklahoma, to some technically illiterate person, to broadcast games for 50.000 audience, hoping for the best.

Instead of improving own performance, they sent men in black to hunt angry anonymous internet posters. Sorry... you deserved every single nasty comment.

MonRoi is now threatening legal actions against DailyDirt owner Mig Greengard. PR suicide and impudent attempt to prevent any kind of criticism. Even if Mig is a "jerk". Close all book/software review websites.

It is notable that Susan Polgar, who endorsed MonRoi products, but is also devoted DailyDirt reader, is staying out of the discussion. The usual copy-paste or "please, make up" policy would hardly please any of the sides involved. USCF board elections are on the next corner, better don't touch the hot potato.
