Monarch Assurance 14th International Chess Tournament

I had this tournament's link bookmarked but I have totally forgot to post the news. Never too late :-)

The event took place in Port Erin on the Isle of Man, from 24th September to 2nd October, with 92 participants and 29 Grandmasters among them. GM Alexander Shabalov (USA 2593) and GM Alexander Areshchenko (UKR 2625) have tied for the first place with 7 points out of 9 games.

Top seed GM Sergei Tiviakov was not in the best shape, but he sure has reasons to celebrate as he broke 2700 sky limit in the latest FIDE rating list.
