34th World Open will be held on June 28th-July 4th in Sheraton Hotel, Philadelphia. Prize fund is $500.000 based on 1800 paid entries, guaranteed minimum is $300.000. The open section is US championship qualifier, awarding two spots in the final.
Official website is awful, too bad TWIC is not providing games and results. 45 players have started in 7-Day Open Section and two girls are heroes of the day. WFM Tatev Abrahamyan has defeated GM Alexander Shabalov, while WGM Subbaraman Meenakshi drew GM Sergey Kudrin. Canadian junior Eric Hansen lost to GM Magesh Panchanathan.
