FIDE Grand Prix series concluded yesterday in Astrakhan, Russia. The late substitute Pavel Eljanov of Ukraine took the clear first place with 8/13 points, full point ahead of five contestants.
But Teimour Radjabov from Azerbaijan has even better reason to celebrate as he qualified for the Candidate matches by holding the direct opponent Wang Yue to a draw in the final round.
