IM Robert Hungaski convincingly won the 4th New York International Chess Tournament and claimed his second GM norm. Hungaski finished with 8 points from nine games, full point and a half ahead of second placed GM Jaan Ehlvest, and netted 5000 USD in prize.
Ehlvest is clear second and takes 2500 USD as a prize. Ten players shared the third place with 6 points each. Among them is GM Timur Gareev, winner of the recent Chicago Open.
FIDE Masters Kassa Korely and Aleksandr Ostrovskiy have both earned IM norms.
The Fourth New York International Chess Tournament, organized by the historic Marshall Chess Club, was from June 17 to 21, 2011, at the Manhattan Campus of St. John's University in the heart of downtown Manhattan.
