On July 1, 2011, Serbian Novak Djokovic advanced to his career first Wimbledon final by defeating Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 7-6 (7-4), 6-2, 6-7 (11-9) and 6-3.
The victory also pushes the second-ranked Djokovic to the top of the world rankings regardless of what the result of the final is. Djokovic, who began the two-week Wimbledon marathon just 65 points behind #1 Rafael Nadal, has held the No. 2 spot since March 3, 2011.
