Levon Aronian and Vladimir Kramnik, respective winners of the recent super-tournaments Tata Steel and London Classic, have agreed on a six-game match in classical chess scheduled for 21-29th April.
The match will take place at the Hotel Savoy Baur En Ville in Zurich, Switzerland.
If a game is drawn with less than three hours of play, the players will immediately start a rapid 25+10 game for the spectators. Rapid games will not count for the overall score.
This is the first time in the history of chess that two players rated above 2800 will play a classical match. The sponsor is Russian company IGC.
