Indonesia Open Championship - Round 6 Report

After the rest day the players are facing a day that might prove decisive in deciding the winners. After all rounds 6 and 7 are being played on the third and final day of double rounds and tiredness must now start to become a factor.

In round 6, as in previous rounds, the players were all ready to fight.

On top board leader Yu Yangyi shocked Surya Shekar Ganguly in the opening and after a horrible blunder went on to score an important win in just 15 moves. Yu is now on 5.5/6.

In second place half a point behind are two other Chinese players, Lu Shanglei who handed the top seed Ivan Sokolov his second loss and pre tournament favourite and defending champion Li Chao who outplayed Merab Gagunashvili in the endgame.

Both Nguyen Ngoc Truong and Avrtik Grigoryan, although also still unbeaten,  lost ground with their draw and are now joined by Vladislav Tkachiev, Wei Yi, Wang Yunguo, Oleg Korneev, and Wang Chen, all sharing 4th-10th places on 4.5/6.
