Olympiad has ended and we have just enough time to squeeze World Football Cup in before the 34th Dortmund Sparkassen Chess Meeting starts on 29th July. List of participants is here.
I believe main contenders for the first place are Vladimir Kramnik and Levon Aronian. Kramnik played extremely well at the Olympiad and scored nice wins against Naiditsch, Aronian and Bruzon. He had the best tournament performance of 2847. Aronian was leading Armenians on their gold chase (his game against Ivan Sokolov is a must see). Aronian was also involved in an incident with English GM Danny Gormally.
